And if a Vermilion Flycatcher can hang out on the golf course, why not Anhingas?Jeffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17345056860110319818noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31357943.post-86831678267798435802010-01-25T19:01:32.264-06:002010-01-25T19:01:32.264-06:00Jeff,

As you know, I'm not great at ID'ing, but these 2 are certain. We have not seen the Osprey since the first 2 days we saw it. Nor have we seen the Anhinga up close since the day we saw it sunning, but feel that what we are seeing in the tree on the golf course are probably also Anhinga, but not positive.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16432255165038884290noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31357943.post-60140635347815353352010-01-25T15:05:31.698-06:002010-01-25T15:05:31.698-06:00Yes, Birdwoman,it was fairly productive. Much better later in the year, of course, when the shorebirds are around in numbers.Jeffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17345056860110319818noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31357943.post-44573059988187711752010-01-25T15:04:06.821-06:002010-01-25T15:04:06.821-06:00Hi, CE. Not very nice weather at Surfside and I got the car bogged down in the sand a couple of times.Jeffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17345056860110319818noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31357943.post-21958523663745974532010-01-25T12:59:17.481-06:002010-01-25T12:59:17.481-06:00It may have been a brief visit but it was extremel...It may have been a brief visit but it was extremely productive.Dorothy Bordershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12441731296027227394noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31357943.post-12831900888287553922010-01-25T10:14:47.002-06:002010-01-25T10:14:47.002-06:00You added to your great week of birding with a goo...You added to your great week of birding with a good Saturday of bird watching. Oddly enough, I don't think I've ever seen them at Bear Creek.Jeffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17345056860110319818noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31357943.post-80503390025954695822010-01-25T08:31:26.130-06:002010-01-25T08:31:26.130-06:00Love the cormorant photos. It was sitting on a big log jutting into the creek (north side) and sunning its wings. Easily saw the silver on wings and that distinctive tail. Since then we have seen several in a tree on the golf course - visible from Bear Creek drive near S. Golbow. At least we assume those are anhingas too. Our binoculars not quite powerful enough to make out the distinctive coloring.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16432255165038884290noreply@blogger.com
