Quick and Easy Birding

Yesterday morning I squeezed in a 15-minute visit to Paul Rushing Park on the Katy Prairie. Much of the park was very wet and this had brought in a nice group of shorebirds.

Most of the birds were Long-billed Dowitchers but there were also several Wilson's Phalaropes.

Mixed in with the group were some Pectoral Sandpipers, lifer #431 for me.

Half-a-dozen Black-necked Stilts were nearby with a Lesser Yellowlegs.

A few Stilt Sandpipers were too far away to photograph, as was a small flock of Fulvous Whistling Ducks that flew over.
