(Almost) Wordless Wednesday

One of the highlights of visiting the High Island rookery is getting to watch hundreds of large wading birds flying. On this visit I focused mainly on Great Egrets, among the most graceful fliers of all birds.










Great Egrets usually seem to be large, substantial birds. However, every so often you realize that they are extremely slight. In fact, they weigh only about one and a half pounds.
