These guys always look to me as if they are wearing a cheap toupee that keeps slipping down over their eyes! In spite of that, they are gorgeous birds and seem to be becoming more and more common in our area.
They certainly are becoming more common here. When we came to Houston just over 6 years ago, the bird guides said that we would be lucky to see Caracaras in this area. Now I see them almost every time I drive around/across the Katy Prairie.
