Paul Rushing Park

.
Sunday morning Dee and I went over to Paul Rushing Park. Our main aim was just to have a walk in pleasant surroundings but I took my camera and binoculars, just in case.

Several White-faced Ibis were grazing in the shallow, vegetation-covered water of one lake..

Two White Ibis watching from the roof of an observation deck seemed to be synchronizing their poses.

Another White Ibis flew past overhead.

The railing of the boardwalk was a popular landing area for some of the many Savannah Sparrows we saw on our walk.

A Great Blue Heron looked absolutely majestic as it flew by with measured wingbeats.

Leaving the park, we drove home via Longenbaugh Road, currently a great place to see Scissor-tailed Flycatchers. I don't think I've ever seen so much color on Scissor-tailed Flycatchers as I have this year.

Longenbaugh is also an excellent place for seeing Loggerhead Shrikes. They tend to be skittish birds but this one was more concerned with watching out for prey than with our presence.

Agreed about the White Ibis..... and quite a pretty species too.

The Scissor tail is a new one on me, nice one Jeff.

I have been having a revamp of my blog... added a few gadgets and a play with the layout

I think I've seen more Scissor-tailed Flycatchers this fall than in any previous season here.
